Well this is my last post for my English assignment. Today was quite ok...PE theory was quite fun as we saw a few funny videos, like 'Hu is in China'. AEP was quite easy today as all we had to do was research on logos. A not so interesting lesson came after recess, but it wasn't that bad. Science was also very fun today as we saw a really cool demonstration. I'm starting to think that Thursdays are the best days of the week. After school, there was a Maths TFU test (I think I did much better than a certain someone) and after the test me, Darren, Keith and Sundaresh went to Parkway Parade to take some pictures of logos of shops. Oh, and before I forget, something very funny happened in the bus on the way there. Keith was standing for a while, but after a while, he decided to sit down. Just at that moment someone else was also about to sit on that seat. Keith obnoxiously quickly sat down first and put his bag next to him. The person glared at him and walked away. When we were nearing the stop and where about to get of, Keith's belongings conveniently fell down and scattered across the whole floor. Anyway, after we went to Parkway, we went to Keith's house and did our Maths project (which I think is going very well). Well, that sums up my last blog post. I dont think I will ever post on this blog again. Or maybe I will.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 ♥.
Well, I'm almost done with my blog entries. This is the second last entry for my English assignment. Holidays always pass very fast. Whether it's a five day holiday like this one, or a two month holiday like the December holidays, they all pass by too fast for us to enjoy (maybe if the whole year was a holiday it would be better). Though one thing I can say about the holidays, is that even thought they are loaded with homework assignments (like I have said in my previous posts) they are actually quite relaxing. Oh well. The next holiday is coming up in March (yay!) However, sometimes holidays aren't that great. Sometimes, during the long holidays like the December holidays, it does get boring; just staying at home (playing computer games all day long does get boring...). School can be quite exciting sometimes (like when you have overdue homework, and have to think of excuses etc) in contrast to the boring powerpoint lessons (I think you get my point). However one thing I have to admit is, one of the best parts of being in school is being with friends (or for certain people, being with enemies). I think besides all the homework and exams, school is quite a fun place to be. To me, it's like a second home. Anyway, we are going to spend four years (actually, three years, if you don't count last year) in this school. It's best that we enjoy our time here! Here's a funny video I found.

Finally, my group is almost done with the Maths TFU project. Now we have more time for the other projects (which I'm sure will be handed out to us soon), like the OPW one. (I really hope we will get to choose our own groups...) However, I think doing projects are fun (better than exams anyway) and I like doing them. (but not when we have to rush for the deadline...) Well, most projects are fun. Like the Maths TFU which required us to find the diameter of the school crest without direct measurement, and the History project last year was also fun. The projects I really like are the dramatizations (if you can call them projects) as everyone makes their dramatizations very funny (like last year's CCP and Animal farm). Some projects on the other hand, are not very fun (like last year's Physics project...research, research and more research...) On the whole, doing projects has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that we actually enjoy doing the project (unlike exams...) and they require us to think outside of the textbook and be innovative (yes..still much better than exams...). However the biggest disadvantage of projects can be summed up in one word. Deadlines. Yes, deadlines are the biggest disadvantages of projects. Especially when you have three or four projects with deadlines coming up soon (and you have barely started on them). However, I think this problem can be solved by good time management (pushing all the work to a certain guy in my group is what I usually do). So anyway, projects are much better than exams! (I really hope exams will be removed one day...) Here is the video for today. Enjoy!

I'm so happy that we get such a long weekend! It would be good if there were only two days of school every week. Unfortunately, that's never going to happen. Not any time soon anyway. This week is an exception, so I'm trying to make full use of this long break to relax, before we return to school. Many people might think getting days off school is quite good. I think so too. However, it isn't as good as everyone believes it to be. Firstly, because of the day off, we have extra lessons to make up for the lost lessons. Secondly, The Law of Homework (something I made up...but it makes sense). The amount of homework received is always relative to how long the weekend or holiday is. In other words, for a normal weekend, we only get a little homework compared to how much we get during the June holidays (aren't holidays meant for relaxing? How are we supposed to relax with all that homework?). So by getting more days off school, the teachers actually get the chance to give us lots of homework. If we say the homework is too much, they will just say that the holiday is long enough for us to complete it. So is this what holidays are for? To sit at home and do homework all day long? To stay at home and do homework just to go to school the next day and stay back for extra lessons we missed? It sounds very wrong to me.

Saturday, January 24, 2009 ♥.
It seems like just yesterday the school holidays ended. Even though they were not the best school holidays, at least I got to relax a bit. No exams to prepare for, no rushing for overdue projects, no homework (not much anyway), and best of all, no waking up early in the morning! (The stupid part is, even though I wake up at five thirty in the morning every day to catch the first bus to school, I always almost end up being late. Either that or I'm actually late.) Now that I think of it, the best school holiday was the December holiday of 2007, after the PSLE finished. During any other December holiday, I would have bought my books for the next year within the first month of the holidays, and studied the textbook beforehand. However during 2007, we were notified of the school we were posted to only at the end of December. Which meant that I could only get my books at the end of December. So, with no textbooks to go over for the next year, all I could do was enjoy myself all day long, with no worries for the upcoming year! Those were the best days of my life. I think the only school holidays that will actually be as good as that one (or better) is the December holidays after the 'O' Levels. Still, all holidays are good, as I will always get to relax (maybe not the September holidays...with the final exams so near there will be so much homework and extra classes after school, or during the holiday).
